Summer Sports Camp in Central Asia

Summer Sports Camp in Central Asia

Brian*, professional athlete and one of the camp leaders, shares:

„I'll start off by saying this... our sports camp this Summer was one of the MOST POWERFUL and impactful experiences of my life! Every single moment, from the time our plane touched ground to the time we came back home, was filled with God moving. The presence of God was so powerful and our team could feel and even see the Holy Spirit moving mountains, performing miracles, and answering prayer.

Because doing sport was our common language with all of these teams and what was helping us form friendships, it seemed like everything was being done spiritually to try to get our team off of the mats. But whatever came our way, the Lord continued to protect us and help us carry out the mission He sent us for.

Two instances I remember the most: One person received a concussion and was completely dazed. We brought him to his room, laid hands on him and prayed, then let him rest. He took a 30-minute nap and woke up completely healed. He said he could literally feel a change as we were praying.

The second instance I experienced firsthand. I was playing rugby basketball and hyper-extended my knee. I couldn't move or walk, and had to scoot off the mat. I immediately began praying that this injury would not hinder ministry and relationship-building. After about 10 minutes, I felt my knee get warm and then immediately restored as if nothing happened. I got up and was able to walk and even workout the rest of the camp! It was so cool to see how God was protecting us and not letting physical things get in the way of sharing the Gospel.

People on our team would share testimonies every day about relationships they were forming or ways they got to share the Gospel. We had team worship gatherings daily, along with small groups, often filled with stories. One that stands out is with the team from Kazakhstan. They asked why we were so generous, kind, and full of joy. This opened a door to share about Jesus.

One of the most miraculous things I've ever experienced is how God has been using sports as a means to foster ministry, especially in areas of the world that are so closed off to the Gospel:
Every single day at this camp, kids were giving their lives to Christ!"

Please pray with us …

    • Please pray that our family stays firm in trusting the Lord as He unfolds His calling for us and the ministry we are leading.
    • Please pray for all of the kids who committed to following Jesus at this Summer's camp.
    • Pray for our overseas ministry team and that we would all allow the impact from this trip to continue on in our hearts for the rest of our lives..
    • Pray for all of the coaches and athletes who we engaged with during our time there. Big relationships were formed and the Gospel was shared!
